I don’t want to scare you but…

The truth is if you are asking yourself any of the following questions, you are already scared and trying to build your business from a place of fear.

“Can I charge that much?” “Will people pay it?”  “Can I really deliver what I am selling?” “What if people don’t trust me?” “How can I make more money without working harder?” “Why doesn’t anyone approach me during a networking meeting?”

I have asked myself these questions and dozens more just like them over the past 20 years.  Having built 3 successful businesses from scratch I think I’ve been on many mountain tops and trudged through every valley in between!  It can be exhausting building a business when you are operating from fear.

Don’t let anxiety and fear get in the way of a powerful first impression and building your dream business!  When you start building your business from the ‘inside out’ all of this will change.

I talk with hundreds of business owners each year and if you are living with worry and fear YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Here are some stats that felt staggering to me when I first read them:

  • 50% of all business owners fail within the first 2 years of business.
  • And of the 50% that make it to year 2 – 60% will not make it to year 4.


Okay those stats are scary and probably not really intended to make you feel good, so I can take that with a grain…. what really pushed me to look at helping business owners in a different way were these statistics:

50% of all Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners only make $25,000 per year.

And are you ready for this?

Only 6% will make $100,000 plus per year!!!


I know that making $25k per year is not going cut it for anyone building a business and I have not talked to any business owners who did not want to make $100k plus per year. 

So, let me ask you, which statistic do you fall into?  


I believe these stats are realistic are for two reasons:

  1. You don’t have the necessary Business Building Skills:  Having a solid Sales Process, Online and Offline Marketing Strategies, developing a Business Plan that gives you an overview of what you and your business are capable of, understanding your numbers and how that translates into cash flow, knowing how to get the most out of conferences and networking events you attend, and so much more.
  2. FEAR:  Fear people won’t like you, fear of people saying no to your offering, fear and a lack of confidence in having sales conversations, fear of not knowing what to say when you are networking, fear of failing, fear of succeeding …. I could literally go on and on.
